Construction of wood pellets silos and ship loader

Cribtec Division

Cribtec a été impliqué dès le départ par Arrimage Québec dans les études d’ingénierie électriques pour l’implantation du terminal maritime de biomasse de Québec. Le terminal est conçu pour recevoir et décharger des wagons de granule de bois et entreposer la granule par l’entremise d’un système de convoyeurs fermés dans 2 silos avec chacun 37 500 tonnes de capacité, jusqu’à ce que la granule soit chargée sur un navire.

Key Project Deliverables

The major deliverables are, the design of power and control, supply, electrical installation and project startup including, among others :

  • Supply and controls motor loads requiring two electrical rooms of 3000 amps at 600 volts
  • Controls & Automation System with programmable logic controllers
  • Wonderware GALAXY type operator interface system
  • Gas level measuring and detection systems of the silos
  • Interfacing of gas injection systems and dedusting

Deric Construction Division

Engineering, installation and project management for the construction of a storage terminal and transshipment of wood pellets that can treat 600,000 metric tons of pellets annually.

Key Project Deliverables

  • Two (2) projected concrete silos of 48 meters in diameter, with a capacity of 37,500 tons each, including ventilation, fire escape and an operation building at the head of the silo;
  • One (1) tunnel with a length of 144 meters, including two (2) access stairs and a mechanical room;
  • One (1) unloading rail cars platform, including operating room, floor heating and doors opening system;
  • Dust capture management system with a total capacity of 44,500 CFM;
  • Nitrogen injection system for stabilizing reactions and important fire extinguishing function in case of fire;
  • Closed conveyor system for loading silos having an inlet flow rate of 550 tons per hour;
  • Ship loader with a capacity of 1600 tons per hour on wheels in parallel, perpendicular and radial motion mode, with a 10 meters telescopic handle.
